Black Urban Innovation Alliance Incorporated was founded by Kalena Sharp on June 25th, 2024 in Los Angeles California. Her passion for working with young children and their families has driven her long-standing commitment and dedication to becoming a leader in her community. Since childhood, she’s known she was meant to serve and transform the lives of children and communities. In response to the long history of oppression, mistreatment, discrimination, police brutality, and racism faced by Black people, Kalena established this nonprofit organization. BUIA strives to teach, guide, nurture, encourage, and motivate these communities. A key goal is to steer young children away from gang life, stand up as leaders for our youth, and create an innovative, safe, and sustainable environment for urban children and families.
